Publication news from Michael J. Crawford, Head, Early History Branch, U.S. Naval Historical Center, Washington, D.C.,

The Autobiography of a Yankee Mariner: Christopher Prince and the American Revolution is the 1806 memoir of a Massachusetts sailor who took part in a number of the momentous events of the American War of Independence. Christopher Prince witnessed the American invasion of Canada, took part in the defense of New York, served in the Connecticut State Navy, and sailed in New London privateers. Late in his life, Prince became a leader in the seaman’s religious movement. Michael J. Crawford, head of the Early History Branch of the Naval Historical Center in Washington, D.C., has edited this participant’s account of seafaring during the American Revolution, adding an introduction, notes, appendices, and a glossary. Washington, D.C.: Brassey’s Inc, 2002. http://www.brasseysinc.com.
