Announcing Research Studentships in Naval History The Laughton Scholarships The War Studies Department is looking to appoint two studentships on a three-year term based at the Department of War Studies at the Strand Campus. The awards will include the payment of annual registration fees - one for UK/EU students, the other for overseas students. Applicants will undertake study in an area of naval history (of their choosing) and will receive formal instruction in research methodology during their first year of study in the Department of War Studies. Students may be supervised either by Professor Andrew Lambert, Dr. Joe Maiolo or Dr. Alan James. The awards are for one year in the first instance - these are then renewable for further years of study provided that students satisfy the yearly course requirements. Each studentship is offered for a maximum of three academic years. The closing date for these studentships is 15 May 2003. Candidates should have a good Honours degree (First or 2.1) in a relevant subject area and be strongly motivated to study for a PhD in War Studies.
