One-Day Symposium

John Lyman Book Awards

 

    The North American Society for Oceanic History is currently evaluating books nominated for its John Lyman Book Awards. Presented annually the awards recognize books which make significant contributions to the understanding of the maritime history of North America, the waters bordering the continent, its rivers, and its inland lakes.  Publications which first appeared in 2005 or bear 2005 copyrights are eligible for the current competition. Anyone interested in nominating a work for consideration is asked to contact the chair of the awards committee at the following address:

Margaret Rossiter Prize for the History of Women in Science

 

    In November the History of Science Society awarded Kathleen Broome Williams the Margaret Rossiter History of Women in Science prize for her book Improbable Warriors: Women Scientists and the US Navy in World War II (Naval Institute Press, 2001).
